Hundreds of slopes, comfortable lifts and the most beautiful mountain huts are in abundance for your winter holidays here. But even off the slopes the winter sports region Schladming-Dachstein maintains a wide range of leisure activities.
As venue of the Alpine Ski World Championships 2013 Schladming is the centre of Austrian skiing. All competitions will be on the perfectly groomed slopes of Schladming Skibergs – starting with the Planai, which is already known by the legendary "Night Race". The Planai is part of the 4-mountain ski, which connects the ski Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm together. Thus, the skier or snowboarder standing with only one ski pass, finds the world-class pistes of four excellent ski mountains available to them.
The famous Dachstein is a few kilometres away from Schladming with a superb viewing platform and nearly year-round skiing on the Dachstein glacier. Other small ski areas impress with their particularly family friendly atmosphere and charismatic huts on offer. After skiing you can go to party in an atmospheric ski chalet or a cult après-ski bar.
Also off-piste skiing offers you versatility as part of your winter holiday in the region Schladming-Dachstein. The snowy winter landscape is perfect for hiking, cross-country skiing, ski touring or take a romantic carriage ride. Also ice skating, sledding or a relaxing visit to the Therme in the valley are popular activities in winter.
